The Metropol Hotel is a 4* hotel in the centre of Prague, the Czech Republic's capital.
The 9 storey glass building with 64 en-suite rooms opened in 2007. Surrounded by much older and historical buildings, this design hotel stands out with its unique aesthetic. Staying at the Metropol HotelOn arrival the staff are welcoming and there is a porter to take luggage to the room. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with towels and toiletries replenished daily, and beds made each day. The bathroom facilities include a hairdryer and large mirror, and the shower is powerful. The rooms come with flat screen TV’s with channels in a range of languages, and the minibar is reasonably priced compared to most. Every room has an all-glass wall which opens a large section at the touch of a button, airing the room quickly. Free internet access is available in all rooms, and a computer is provided in the reception area for anyone who hasn’t brought one with them. The décor of the hotel is modern, with its glass walled staircases, red and white rooms and quirky furniture. The restaurant and café are open to the public, with swipe cards needed to access the lift and stairs to the rooms, ensuring security for guests. Buffet breakfast is included in the booking price. Although offering quite a simple range of options, the food is good and the staff are attentive. In warmer weather, the front wall of the café can be removed. There is also a sundeck on the roof which is open during the summer, giving views over the city. Hotel InformationThe Metropol’s website gives standard prices at 220€ for a single room per night, and 240€ for a double, with both prices including breakfast, VAT and City Tax. However, it also offers low-season, last minute and walk-in rates from 89€ and suggests contacting the hotel directly for the best rates. Offers are also available on lastminute.com The hotel is located on Narodni St, just off main tourist-area Wenceslas Square, but is surprisingly quiet considering the popularity of the area. The nearest Metro station is Mustek. It is ideally located with most attractions and tourist spots in walking distance. Sights such as the Old Town Square and Charles Bridge are both about a five minute walk away. Opposite the hotel is a Tescos store which is convenient for last minute supplies, and plenty of restaurants and bars are nearby for entertainment.
