Czech's capital is a city of beauty. Be it the Astronomical Clock or Prague Castle, there are many stunning sights the city has to offer...including some of its hotels.

Everyone dreams of visiting a city like Prague. The Czech Republic is a beautiful country overall, but there is a special feel to its capital city. Stunning architecture and cobblestone streets abound, making visitors to the city feel like they have stepped back in time. In light of this elegant atmosphere, a little pampering in the accommodations department might be in order.

A Gem in the Rocco Forte Collection of Hotels

If you are going to go all out, the brand new 5-star Rocco Forte property The Augustine is truly spectacular. The Rocco Forte Collection consists of a number of properties in such areas as Brussels, Florence and London, with more to open shortly in Abu Dhabi and Marrakech. The Augustine opened its fabulous doors in May of 2009, and a firsthand experience in June certainly exceeded expectation. The service is impeccable, the rooms are beautiful, and the history is intriguing.

A Historical Setting in the Czech Republic

A collection of seven buildings altogether, which includes St. Thomas’ Monastery (dating back to the 13th century), the setting is both historical and serene. A functioning monastery still exists next to the hotel and tours of their facilities and library (by one of the monks, no less) can easily be arranged. In keeping with this theme of peace and relaxation, there is also a spa, a restaurant and two bars. One of the bars (The Brewery) has much of a tavern feel to it. Located in the main building’s cellar, it offers its patrons a taste of history by serving the original recipe of the monks’ beer.

Heavenly Drinks by the Monastery

The property’s second watering hole, Tom’s Bar, has more of the typical bar/lounge ambience, and features four signature drinks. In an obvious effort to draw on the property’s history and simultaneously have a little fun, each of these cocktails is named for a different angel…and is the color of that angel’s loincloth:

Michael(symbolizes protection, power and initiative [red-purple in color]): Bailey’s, Chambord, Grahamm’s port, Frangelico, Grenadine

Raphael(healing, consecration, truth [green]): Becherovka, Midori, pear pureé sugar syrup, lemon juice

Gabriel (love, tolerance, gratitude [pink]): Hennessy VS, Orgeat, lemon juice, cranberry juice

Jophiel (illumination, wisdom, perception [yellow]): Mount Gay Eclipse, lemon juice, pineapple juice, mandarins, fresh ginger

The Augustine's Suite Experience

In an effort to make one’s stay even that much more comfortable, The Augustine offers what they have called “The Suite Experience”. With this package, the booking of a suite (except Junior Suites) also includes a slew of amenities such as complimentary buffet breakfast, in-room check in, and complimentary packing and unpacking service.

Rates at the AugustineDepending on just how much luxury and indulgence is sought after, there are several options in this 101-room property; rack rates range from 370 to 4000 EUR per night! For more information, check out the above mentioned Rocco Forte website or go directly to The Augustine's site.
