Prague is a place with many sights to enjoy. If one is on a short trip to the city some decisions have to be made to enjoy it to the full.

Prague will lead visitors through history in a smooth manner. There are many places and people to discover in this beautiful city. References to Kafka are everywhere while they try to forget about Communism.

Wenceslas Square

Here one can find the imposing National Museum. This boulevard has been the witness of protest marches, demonstrations and finally freedom from communism. A coffee at Café Evropa is a must.

Prague Castle

There are many places to visit here. St Vitus’s Cathedral is, probably, the most imposing of them all. Around the castle it is the commercial Nerudova Street and Mala Strana, the old aristocratic quarter.

Golden Lane

This street runs behind the cathedral. The old site for alchemists and peddlers was later used by Franz Kafka to write some of his works. The little house he used is now a shop that sells his books.

Pêtrín

Amazing views of the city from this hill. The funicular railways takes visitors to the top and all of Prague will be at one’s feet. Perfect opportunity for breathtaking pictures of the city and its roofline.

Alfons Mucha Museum

Even if one decides not to visit museums, this is one that must be seen. The works of the Art Nouveau master give an idea of Mucha’s genius and processes of creation.

Charles Bridge

This is probably the most romantic bridge on Earth. It is best appreciated in the late evening or early in the morning when tourists and vendors are not there, although midnight is still the bridge’s magic hour.

Josefov, the Jewish Quarter

Prague became an important city in history partly thanks to its Jewish Community and its relation with the Bohemian Kings. Today it shows the world the beauty of its Synagogues and acts as a reminder of a terrible past.

Staré Mêsto and Nové Mêsto

The Old and the New Quarters of Prague guide the tourist to discover the history and the growth of this magic city. Both parts offer wonderful sights and entertainment for all ages.

Vltava River

A visit to Prague would not be complete without a tour along the river and there are a range of tours that will charm every tourist. It is a good idea to get a leaflet with different river tours to make the right decision according to one’s tastes. One can discover the beautiful buildings on the river banks and have a privileged view of the giant Metronome that was built to count the minutes since the fall of communism.

TV Tower

In a city of unbelievably beautiful buildings this tower stands out for its modern ugliness with sinister looking statues of babies crawling in its exterior close to the top. The views from the viewing point at the top, however, are breathtaking.
